DMI is a technique our physiotherapists use to treat children with gross motor impairments. We are certified in DMI or apply principles learnt from clinical mentorship. Learn more at dmitherapy.com
Neuroplasticity is the ability for the brain to change through growth and reorganization. Our physiotherapists use targeted exercises and repetition to promote neuroplasticity in your child.
We use the ICF framework that was developed by the World Health Organisation to ensure care is holistic. The WHO ICF framework considers your child's condition, body function, activities, participation, environmental and personal factors.
Our Intensives utilise the FITT principle by increasing the Frequency of physiotherapy to optimise motor learning and neuroplasticity. In addition, our Intensives increase the Intensity and use relevant Types of exercise to achieve results.
Bobath is a concept our physiotherapists use to treat children with movement and postural impairments. We are certified Bobath trained- London, and the team have developed these principles, applications and skills from clinical mentorship.
Our physiotherapists use motor learning and control principles to teach children new gross motor skills effectively and efficiently. These principles play a crucial role in skill acquisition, neuroplasticity and rehabilitation.
As physiotherapists, we are trained to analyse movement and gait. We are able to use these skills to identify which muscles need strengthening in order to improve functional skills such as walking, standing and transfers.
Our suspension walker supports children to walk on the ground, run on a treadmill and more. Children are supported in a harness that is securely attached to a frame that can take the weight of an adult.
Our spider cage is a versatile tool that uses bungee cords attached to a multi-functional unit to support movement. Your physiotherapist will adjust bungees to support your child in learning to hop, jump, walk, stand and more. Our spider cage can also be used for strengthening exercises.
Our vibration plate helps children engage their muscles during an activity such as sitting to stand. The vibration helps increase a child's sense of where their body is in space, something we call proprioception. Vibration plates are also great for children with high muscle tone to help relax their muscles.
Our rock wall is a crowd favourite! We love to be able to offer our kids the ability to rock climb in a safe ands supported environment.
The rock wall is a great way to build muscle strength, coordination, and motor planning.
Our playground allows your child to build specific skills and confidence needed to engage in the activities they love in the community and at school. The monkey bars, trapeze swing, flying fox and rope ladder improve upper body and core strength and coordination in a fun and functional way!
Our Pilates reformer assists children in building strength in specifically targeted muscle groups. It allows our physiotherapist to add and take away resistance as required.
Our physiotherapists use compression garments and splints such as Spio Suits, leg wraps, arm wraps, Second Skins and more to support your child's posture and improve their quality of movement.
Blazepods are a great motivator! Our therapists use Blazepods to improve balance, reaction times, speed, coordination and motor planning.
We have a range of other equipment such as a trampoline, stairs, balance beam, hurdles, and rocket launcher to motivate your child and challenge their strength and balance.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Paediatric Physiotherapy Centre acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung as the Traditional Custodians of that land where our clinics are located.
